The Dragon Gate Beaded Art
The Dragon Gate beaded art dragonfly shadow box frame was inspired by Japanese mythology and some unusual rectangular beads which I used to build the gateway. The legendary first emperor of Japan called the country Dragonfly Island after seeing its shape from a mountaintop.
The Autumn Darter dragonfly is endemic to Japan and is celebrated in a children’s song as the red dragonfly. I also discovered that there’s a species of plume moth that is endemic. It has unusual wings and I’ve included my version in this frame. Together with the lily pond, koi carp, acer branches and pink flowers, I hope they convey a flavour of the Far East.
The off-white box frame is 27 cm square and can be displayed on a shelf or on the wall. UK postage is included in the price.
I have written a blog post where you can read a little more about the background of The Dragon Gate.
