Palace Garden Shadow Box

This Palace Garden shadow box mixed media artwork features a vintage playing card illustrated with a Persian/Mughal painting. I have used the card to create the impression of a prince’s pavilion set within an exotic garden. I wrote a short story about the scene.

The rich silk hangings rippled as they filtered the breeze that wafted through the prince’s pavilion. He preferred to hold audiences in the palace garden because the soothing sound of water and the fragrance from the flowers helped to make the daily business more pleasurable.

The garden was laid out with exotic blooms and unique sculptures commissioned from the most talented artisans which created interest and amusement for visitors. There were sparkling fountains and the pond was dotted with lotus flowers while floating lanterns cast their light across the water. It was a serene atmosphere broken only by the occasional cry of a peacock.”

The white box frame is 27 cm square and can be displayed on a shelf or hung on the wall. UK postage is included in the price.

The Palace Garden is one of four artworks that I have made using two pairs of vintage playing cards. Each frame is unique and has its own story. You may like to take a look at the others:
