Myth and Magic Arthurian Legend
The myth and magic of the Arthurian legend has captured the imagination for centuries and my mixed media artwork seeks to evoke some of that mystery. Step into the crystal cave where the magic still lingers in the almost otherworldly atmosphere. It was inspired by the title of the first part of an Arthurian trilogy by Mary Stewart, books I enjoyed reading many years ago.
Arthur’s sword, Excalibur, is embedded in the stone and beside it is a dragon’s head standard, my nod to Arthur’s family name of Pendragon. It is an atmospheric night scene with scudding clouds, holographic stars and a cratered moon. Also in this mystical setting is a statue of the Mother Goddess, the principal deity of pagan Britain. I have added two flying insects, created with earring clips and upcycled black flocked card which I am calling Mourning Moths.
I hope you’ll agree that this box frame artwork really does convey a sense of mystery, ancient magic and forgotten lore.
The black frame is 25 cm square and can stand on a shelf or be hung on the wall. It would make a unique gift for anyone who loves myths and legend and the world of fantasy.
UK postage is included in the price.
