Love’s Sanctuary Mixed Media

This Love’s Sanctuary mixed media artwork celebrates the goddess of love, Aphrodite. The shadow box frame includes my interpretation of her temple in Palaepaphos, Cyprus and elements that are associated with the goddess: doves, swans and sparrows: anemones, myrtle and roses: pearls, scallop shells and the rocks of her birthplace at Petra tou Romiou.

I have used a range of upcycled materials from beads and card to mosaic stone tiles, pebbles and faux foliage to recreate this glimpse of Ancient Greece. This frame would make an ideal gift for any lover of romance, mythology or the ancient world. Like all of my artworks this is a unique piece which will never be duplicated. It is part of my series of mythical creatures and the ancient world. You might like to take a look at some of the others which are mentioned below.
